Dear Stakeholders,

Welcome to our November newsletter. We are at an exciting phase – focusing on two major objectives: finalising the INPAG (International Non-Profit Accounting Guidance) text as we look towards the launch in second half of 2025, as well as strategies to ensure adoption by both funders (for grant reporting) and countries (for entity reporting).

In this edition, we share some powerful articles published in the sector press, and welcome new Country Champions in Germany and South Africa. You can also check out the progress and discussions on proposed changes to fund accounting, grant recognition and the donor reporting format.

We’ve also done a refresh of our website Home and INPAG page, so if you haven’t visited recently, do take a look!

INPAG in the Spotlight: Features in Devex and Alliance Magazine

We’re delighted to see INPAG receiving recognition among humanitarian and development stakeholders. Please read and share these insightful articles.

In Devex: ‘The power imbalance between funders and civil society organizations is evident in the varied reporting formats required for grant compliance. Meet INPAG – The transformational initiative that will harmonize financial reporting across the sector.’

In Alliance Magazine: ‘Funders need to build genuine, trust-based relationships with the organisations and communities they support. INPAG offers a transformative opportunity to enhance transparency and consistency in financial reporting, which in turn builds trust.’

In Business Day: ‘INPAG offers Nigerian nonprofits a global standard tailored to their mission-driven goals, enhancing transparency, accountability, and stakeholder trust while aligning with evolving tax and regulatory frameworks.’

Impressive responses to public consultations

INPAG has been developed ‘by the sector, for the sector’. So, who actually responded to our Exposure Drafts? The analysis of respondents shows impressive geographical diversity, and representation from a range of stakeholder groups, with 549 responses from 86 countries. Of those, 179 were written comment letters (from 106 organisations and 73 individuals) and 370 were surveys. But it’s much more than a numbers game! The quality and depth of the comments have provided rich input that is proving invaluable. We have received validating confirmation of the areas that are resonating, and useful suggestions for areas to make changes.

ICAZ NPO conference

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) convened a 2-day conference specifically for NPOs on 7-8 November, demonstrating the strategic role that Professional Accountancy Organisations can make in driving adoption and supporting accountants in the sector.

Samantha Musoke ‘zoomed’ in and co-presented with George Mahembe (pictured), Finance Director Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE), to explore the relevance and importance of the standard to Zimbabwe stakeholders.
