Assietou is the Chief Executive Officer of VaxSen and a seasoned financial expert with diverse international experience in leading public and private organisations. She is a strong advocate for strengthening public finance management in Africa, she is dedicated to driving continental collaboration with international regulators, financing institutions, and African professional accountancy organisations (PAOs).
Assietou previously served as the Managing Director for Finance & Operations at Gavi, where she played a critical role in strengthening primary health care (PHC) in over 70 countries. At Gavi, she worked with a broad range of partners, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, sovereign governments, private sector foundations, corporate partners, NGOs, and vaccine manufacturers.
Prior to Gavi, she worked at the African Union in Addis Ababa, overseeing the Directorate of Programming, Budgeting, Finance, and Accounting. Earlier in her career, Assietou held senior executive roles in the private sector, working for financial institutions in the UAE, the UK, and Senegal. She began her career as a senior auditor in Paris.
Assietou holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from “Sup De Co” in France and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Passionate about change management and innovative thinking in finance, she is also a BSI-certified balanced scorecard professional.
She is a member of the IFR4NPO Steering group which provides governance oversight to the delivery of the project.
